Originally commissioned by the BBC as part of their ‘Gay Brittania Series’ in 2017, QUEERS TV Series commemorated the 50th anniversary of the U.K’s Sexual Offences Act from the perspective of those whose lives it affected with a poignant, funny, tragic, and riotous celebration. It was also broadcast by BBC America in collaboration with AMC Networks.
To mark this year’s Pride Month, two new commissions with stories from the wider LGBTQ+ community will be premiered on The Old Vic’s YouTube channel from 30 Jun. I Threw It, written by Travis Alabanza and performed by Kim Tatum AKA Mzz Kimberley,
Plus Bee, by Jade Anouka and performed by Pearl Mackie, directed by Sean Linnen.
Queers is curated by Mark Gatiss. The original monologues were produced in partnership with the BBC and are being re-released on BBC iPlayer.
