Netflix is full of good news today. They have not only released the first teaser trailer of their new TALES OF A CITY series, but they also announced that it will be released on their site/app on June 7th.
Picking up the story 20 years later from where it last left off, we see Mary Anne Singleton (Laura Linney) having a midlife crisis in her too-cosy existence in Connecticut and coming back home to Barbary Lane and Mrs Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis). The house is now also occupied by a brand new bunch of diverse young queer tenants giving a real contemporary feel to life at the end of the lane.
Creator Armistead Maupin is still very much on board as Executive Producer and he is joined by Orange Is the New Black writer Lauren Morelli who serves as both showrunner and executive producer. Maupin says “Mrs. Madrigal’s tenants, both old and new, will be entangled in delicious new adventures and ever-expanding possibilities for love.”
All 10 episodes of Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City will be available to stream on Netflix from 7 June.
