Tom Goss : Dancing In My Room

Since we caught up with TOM GOSS one  of Queerguru’s favorite singer/songwriters  last November (https:// queerguru.com/tom-goss-living-his-dream/) he has been very  busy. making music.  A ‘little thing’ like a COVId 19 Lockdown has hardly slowed down his output :  just follow him on Facebook to see when he is next Streaming LIve  (https://www.facebook.com/tomgossmusic/).

This Monday morning however we just came over a new Music Video which is the perfect way to start another week of Social Distancing at home.  Recently  Goss had success on TikTok and elsewhere with “Dancing In My Room,” a song he co-wrote with producer Austin Danson.

I just started dancing in my room and singing,” Goss says of the lyrics, which were made up on the spot. “I think there’s something fun about being in your room by yourself. Nobody’s watching. You’re cranking your favorite tunes. You’re in your happy space in your room, just dancing.”

So he had the idea of getting musician friends doing their own take of the song to celebrate community in this time of mass isolation.  Ultimately, eleven musical artists signed on for three variations of the video — from the original English-language version featuring a French rap in the bridge, to one in Spanish with a Mandarin rap, to another in French with a Korean rap.

Goss’s own version features Natalie Jane,  Sam Renascent and Max Emerson…… and if you notice carefully you may be able to name some of the dancers too ….. like Deven Green and Handsome Ned.

Goss added that COVID-19 has also reinforced his commitment to collaboration in his personal life. “I’m in a very lucky situation because I really love my husband and I enjoy spending time with him,” he says. “To be honest with you, we haven’t spent this much time together since 2006. It’s been really very wonderful to get to know each other once again.”

BTW Proceeds from the project go toward United Way Worldwide.
