Time for more Tough Ladies on both the small and big Screens soon

 

 

The latest installments of Ryan Murphy’s TV series FEUD are about to hit our screens.   Called “Capote vs. the Swan’ they are set in the 1970s and are about writer Truman Capote’s inner circle of “swans,” a term he coined to describe his wealthy female socialite friends.  This quintet of powerful women included C. Z. Guest,  Lee Radziwill etc, and are played  by  Naomi Watts, Chloë Sevigny, Molly Ringwald, Calista Flockhart, and Diane Lane with Tom Hollander playing Capote

Equally exciting is the fact that the series will be directed by twice-nominated queer filmmaker Gus Van Sant.

In 1975 Capote wrote a short story “La Côte Basque 1965 for Esquire Magazine for which he used the gossip surrounding the swans as inspiration Fast forward to 2021 and the publication of Laurence Leamer’s bestselling nonfiction book “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era. In it, she wrote about Capote’s ultimate betrayal of the “swans.”    
"Feud: Capote vs. the Swans" will hit FX in 2024 and will stream on Hulu.


 

P,S. Late actor Treat Williams also stars as Watt’s onscreen husband, CBS News icon and media tycoon Bill Paley, marking his final role.

 

 

 

Meanwhile, on the Big Screen,  news from the award-winning Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrian enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success with his feature films on Jackie Onnasis and The Princess of Wales.   For her performance In the later (titled Spencer) Kristin Stewart gained her very first Oscar Nomination.


Now Larrian has turned his attention to Opera Diva Maria Callas.  (known as The Divine One) in a new biopic titled Maria set during the last days of the chanteuse’s life. who died in 1977.   His perfect casting sees Angelina Jolie starring as the larger-than-life Greek superstar who dominated the world of opera for decades. Actual filming on this highly anticipated movie has just started so we’ll need to wait until 2024 to see it on our screens
