This Month : celebrate PRIDE in Miami Beach, and in Boise , Idaho

 

Pride no longer starts and ends in June these days.  This month sees two wonderful sets of celebrations in different parts of the country.

First Miami Beach which is one of Queerguru’s Hometown.  There is a literal Kick-Off on Wednesday 8th Sept with a Pride in The Park Event when the Miami Marlins take on the New York Mets  (that’s baseball to all you non-sports types). Then the partying starts officially on Friday 10th and does end until the following Tuesday!

Highlights include SOAK Pool Party with RALPHI ROSARIO @ The Confidante Miami Beach.  If you really want to make a splash and have a more extravagant, retro-glam experience then you can book a  cabana or bungalow.   It will give you access to the VIP lounge, a bottle of Titos with mixers , food and beverage service plus access to VIP DJ Lounge and unlimited Tito’s cocktails. 

On Monday Sept 13th there is a QUEER ART SHOWCASE at the glamorous Eden Roc, designed in 1955 by famed architect Morris Lapidus. The event will include photography, paintings, a book-reading and a workshop on self-publishing and will feature the work of Askenaxi, Jose Blanco, Jonathan Brooks, Leslie Cohen, Leslie Anne Frye-Thomas, Junior Jimenez, Chris Ochoa, David Sexton, Elias Smith, Julian Uquillas and more. Come celebrate the art of the South Florida queer community

On Tuesday 14th September the Faena Hotel will host The Miss Miami Beach Pride pageant. Florida’s fiercest queens diva it out to compete for the prestigious title of Miss Miami Beach Pride.T his incredible lineup of ladies will be put to the test, as they showcase their hottest outfits, outrageous stunts and show-stopping performances live on stage. There will be six categories the contestants will be judged upon including Presentation (Show Your Pride), Swimwear, Evening Gown, Questions and Answers and Talent.

MEANWHILE IN BOISE, IDAHO…..

 

On the Opening Night of PRIDE in Boise on Friday September 10th the star turn will be none other than the fabulous TODRICK HALL.  He’ll be performing at the Festival Grounds in Cecil D Andrus Park and on the same bill will also be the singer/songwriter Kaleena Zanders.

The following day Saturday 11th the Festival Grounds will be hosting Boise HomeTown Drag Spectacular.  Followed by the ‘skinny legend’ Trixie Mattel winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 3 , and one half of a comic duo on Viceland (“The Trixie and Katya Show”)   Also on the same bill singer/songwriter Mary Lambert

Sunday September 12th sees a fun-packed bill of performers including 17 year-old singer/songwriter Joshua Emara ; LezBe Kings a local drag king performance troupe; Kylie Sonique Love who won Ru Pauls’ Drag Race All Stars earlier this year; trans pop artist Jakk Fynn; and ending the night will be Welsh-born, NYC based electronic pop artist Bright Light Bright Light
