The Unstoppable Ryan Murphy keeps making more queer TV/Films

With his latest announcement, queer show business mogul Ryan Murphy with his midas touch is taking on another gay classic that we cannot wait to see. He is about to make a mini-series of the nine time Tony Award winning musical A Chorus Line

This heartwarming show about the aspirations of a group of chorus dancers as they auditioned to be in a show  ran for 6137 performances in its original production became  Broadway’s longest running musical until Cats came along. With music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante. it was however the sheer genius of the director late great Michael Bennett that made it such a remarkable show.

Murphy, a prolific producer, has previously announced that he is working on a series about the celebrity  designer Halston  who was a major fashion influence in the 1970s; and  who succumbed to AIDS in 199O,  No date has been fixed yet, but we do know that Ewan McGregor will play the title role.

Other LGBT projects that Murphy already has in development include the film version of his Broadway revival of Mart Crowley classic play The Boys In The Band : the movie adaption of the hit Broadway Musical The Prom about a lesbian’s fight to take her girlfriend as her date:  an as yet unnamed 10 part series on the life of Andy Warhol; and Murphy is working with out-gay actress Sarah Paulson on a new film about Nurse Ratchet  of One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest: and he’s also working on A Secret Love a series about a closeted lesbian couple who didn’t come out until they were in their 80s

Meanwhile Netflix are just to release a new TV series  from Murphy called The Politician with as star studded cast led by out gay actor Ben Platt  (playing a gay politician) with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Lange who plays a wonderfully camp grandmother.

P.S. Miss Lange is already lining up her next project and is talking with Mr Murphy about playing Marlene Dietrich which we think would be a perfect role for her
