Actor Jake Borelli’s character Dr Levi Schmitt came out as gay, and then a few months later Borelli himself came out via Instagram. Director Peter Paige (ex Queer As Folk) must have been so impressed with Borelli aka Schmitt’s enthusiastic o screen kiss, he offered him the lead role in The Thing About Harry, a gay-themed Valentine’s Day romance.
Borelli will star as Sam, a gay man who embarks on a road trip from Chicago to attend an engagement party in his small hometown in Missouri, where he faced bullying for bravely coming out during high school. The catch is that he ends up having to take the trip with his high school nemesis Harry (newcomer Niko Terho), a jock who may be on the road to some self-discovery with Sam.
The Thing About Harry costars Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown and Britt Baron (GLOW) also Paige, himself. It will be screened on the Freeform Network (a division of Disney) next Feb 14th.
