The movie ‘OLD GUYS IN BED’ premiered in Palm Springs where they are hardly strangers to this prospect/idea

Palm Springs is a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, within the Colorado Desert‘s Coachella Valley, which is famous for two things.  It has a stunning collection of mid-century architecture. But is also has one of the largest populations of older gay men in the US.  It’s because of this second fact that yesterday a film about older gay men exploring love and passion within relationships debuted at Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

Old Guys in Bed written and directed by 73-year-old celebrated Canadian actor JP Bergeron, making his filmmaking debut, and is the story of Paul Nore (Duff MacDonald), a sixty-something gay film historian. navigating romance after years of being single with Bill  (Paul James Saunders) a man in his seventies.

Bergeron’s choice of subject matter is nothing but brave in a community that rarely attempts to hide its disdain and negative attitudes toward men who are about to hit middle age, let alone have well past it.  Sadly, most of us observe the rejection and discrimination and the  pressure to conform to youthful beauty standards, and let it go unchecked

“Old Guys in Bed” is more than just a directorial venture for Bergeron; it’s a personal mission. “When I was ghosted in real life, I felt immense pain. The more I shared my story, the more I realized many in the older gay community had faced similar experiences,” Bergeron expressed. “This film seeks to challenge systemic ageism and the invisibility of older gay men on screen.”

Aftre the film’s World Premiere in Montreal in June, the critics commented on how Bergeron had he explored rarely-tread territory with great humor and heart.  Now we are interested hearing how the LGBTQ+ community at large takes to it. when the mnovei olays other fests/venues  Watch this spot.
