The Men of Mumbai

queerguru has become quite a big fan of Elska the queer indie magazine that dedicates each of its issues to a different city. For their 10th edition they have turned their attention to the men of Mumbai, and chose 15 of them of different ages, shapes and sizes to be photographed naturalistically on the streets and in their homes.

Liam Campbell Elska’s Editor explains that as Asian men tend to be almost invisible in LGBT media, it seemed an obvious choice to make an issue in India. As it turned out he discovered a large and growing gay community in Mumbai that is less and less underground, and he soon found enough willing volunteers to take part in the project.  You can read their own stories in this edition of Elska available online or at 35 retailers worldwide, but if you happen to be in NY on March 9th there will be a Launch Party at the LGBT Center where you can pick up a free poster too.
