Michael Childers actor, director, Hollywood veteran, photographer, producer, one half of an iconic gay couple described by Gore Vidal as one of the last great (queer) raconteurs is one of the busiest septuagenarians Queerguru knows. He is not only extremely talented but extremely well-connected with legions of fans spread across the globe.
In two of the places, he calls home ……Palm Springs and Provincetown ….. he’s like Kevin Bacon i.e. we are all seven degrees of separation from him. With Michael, it’s not really a case of who he knows, as it’s much quicker to list who he doesn’t. We are honored to be counted as one of his very many friends.
Whilst most of us are winding down after a busy summer, Micheal is doing the opposite, as he has two major events planned in November alone.
On the 27th he has a new exhibition of his art at the Melissa Morgan Gallery in Palm Springs: here’s Queerguru’s invite that you can use for the occasion if you haven’t received yours yet. Michael’s hardly a stranger to the camera as in his past he worked with Laurence Olivier at National Theater in London, before becoming a founding photographer for Andy Warhol’s Interview and After Dark magazines; and then produced Dance magazine covers featuring the Joffrey Ballet. From his LA studios, Michael photographed 200+ magazine covers including GQ, New York, TV Guide, Esquire, Los Angeles, Elle, Paris Match, Life, London Sunday Times Magazine, and English and Italian Vogue. He created 150+ album covers and film posters for major studios and worked as a photographer on many films. His new work is yet again another totally different direction for him
