Now that PTown has lost most of the hoards of tourists and visitors the beginning of Fall is marked by what the locals call Townie Summah. The weather is still beautiful most days so who is ever left here can now relax and enjoy the quieter pace. However it is hardly all over yet. There is still an almost relentless program of Events that fill the calendar until way past Columbus Day. And this being PTown, there is literally something for everyone.

Run by local leatherman Rick Conley who is joined by some 5/600 guys (and gals) who want to hang out, socialize, relax, or party with other like-minded people in leather, rubber and uniforms. This is an annual celebration of Tennessee Williams by presenting his classic and undiscovered plays, the work of his peers, and new work inspired by Williams’ creative vision worldwide. The Festival contributes to the cultural wealth of Provincetown by celebrating Williams’ connection to Cape Cod, his evolving international importance and his avant-garde spirit.
This year’s highlights include a production of the world premiere of Talisman Roses directed distinguished actress and director Marsha Mason, and featuring Tony and Emmy-winning actor Amanda Plummer. Plus a new production of William’s classic The Rose Tattoo.

One of the best highlights of the week is Chef Michele Ragussis and the hilarious Vickie Shaw present ing”Northern Sass vs. Southern Ass!”, a fabulous afternoon of food and fun. Vickie will be preparing some Southern down-home country favorites and Chef Michele will prepare a similar dish with her Gourmet flair. The audience votes for their favorite! .

Fantasia Fair is a week-long transgender event that has been held every October since in 1975, which this makes it longest-running transgender event in the world. Part learning experience, part social gathering, and part reunion, the Fair is a full immersion experience, meaning that attendees can and usually do spend an entire week 24/7 presenting their gender as they wish. Making friends and appearing in the Fantasia Fair Fashion Show and the Follies talent show builds confidence. This has been transformational for many of the attendees
Every day is filled with activities and events to inspire, educate, and entertaiN. There are workshops mornings and afternoons, with topics ranging from gender theory and transgender history and politics to personal grooming and voice training. Keynote speakers following every lunch, and there are special events every evening, like the Fashion Show, Follies, and Transgender Pioneer and Fantasia Fair Awards Banquets.

The Laramie Project tells the story of the people of Laramie, Wyoming and how the brutal murder of the gay college student Matthew Shepard impacted and changed their lives and their community forever. Culled from over 200 interviews with local residents by members of The Tectonic Theater Project, the play creates and witnesses a world, authentic to its time and place. This 20th Anniversary production, is directed by one of the original creators, Leigh Fondakowski, head writer of this award winning play.
