Ryan Murphy who has shaped himself into being an innovative Patron Saint of LGBT entertainment, has just announced his latest new venture which has us all celebrating with joy. Last year he produced a Broadway revival of Matt Crowley’s The Boys In The Band to mark the 50th Anniversary of the original groundbreaking production of this classic gay play. .With its all-star cast of out gay actors, it turned out to be the hit of the season.
Today Murphy informed the world that he has joined forces with Netflix to make a movie version of the play, and just like the original 1970 movie, he will be re-uniting all the stage cast to play their same role.s
Helmed by Joe Mantello who directed the revival last year, the cast includes The cast includes Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, Robin de Jesús and Tuc Watkins.
As well as re-making this seminal gay movie. Murphy’s other plans include a film adaptation of queer musical The Prom which he is also making for the Netflix too.
