Pentatonix the American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, currently consisting of vocalists Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee has a thing about Christmas. Since they formed in 2011 they have been producing cover versions of modern pop works or Christmas songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with original material. Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi are the only openly gay members of Pentatonix. but the group as a whole is very vocal about their support for the LGBTQ community.
After breaking away from Sony Music the group formed its YouTube channel which currently has 19.8 million subscribers and 5.7 billion views. In particular, the group’s video tribute to Daft Punk had received more than 364 million views as of November 17, 2022.
