Star Wars THE EMPIRE STRIPS BACK

There are some iconic queer moments in our culture that should be worshiped,  respected and held sacred.  Like ‘The Wizard of Oz’  ‘Torch Song Trilogy’  ‘Robert Mapplethorpe’s photography and even La Cage aux Folles.  We would also add Star Wars, although not really gay, it is worshipped by so many LGBTQ+ people.

If you are in the latter group, you may want to stop reading now.

We have just discovered that playing in LA right now is The Empire Strips Back: A Burlesque Parody – Los Angeles !

Evidently, It started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, specifically in Australia in 2011, and toured that country a few times.   Even worse The show is highly heterosexual, proudly lowbrow, and primarily female-centric cheesecake numbers.   The show boasts that it drops classic Star Wars characters into the world of burlesque. “Be prepared for some seriously sultry Stormtroopers, a dangerously enticing Boba Fett, some tantalizing Twi’leks, a delightfully luke-warm Taun Taun, a lady-like Skywalker, the Droids you are looking for, and much, much more!

All we know is that poor  Obi-Wan Kanobi, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and R2-D2 must be turning over in their graves!
