South Florida Sisters of The Rising Sun join FLORIDA AIDS WALK

If you think that the fabulous Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were a San Francisco phenomenon, then you would be so wrong.  Whilst Sister Roma’s SF ‘Chuch” is no doubt the Mother Ship, there are some excellent Chapters around like the US.

Like the  South Florida Sisters (SFS) of the Rising Sun. Founded in January 2009 by Sister Penny Trater along with 9 other volunteers who have a desire to raise money and awareness that ultimately benefits the LGBT community. The Fort Lauderdale community was introduced to the sisters in March on the weekend of Pridefest. As a fully recognized Missionary Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, they are an order of Post-Modern Nuns, dedicated to the promulgation of omniversal joy, and the expiation of stigmatic guilt.

They really put the fun into fun-draising. And you can check that out yourself tomorrow  SATURDAY 24TH APRIL.  The Sisters will be participating in the FLORIDA AIDS WALK and Music Festival

While HIV and AIDS have fallen out of the spotlight in recent years, the epidemic is far from over. An estimated 1.1 million people in the US are living with HIV, and 15% of them don’t know it.  The walk is for the more than 100,000 people living with HIV in Florida. We walk to remember those who no longer can. We walk to remind you that you’re not alone. We walk for a nation. We walk for change.

The Sisters have already helped the Organisers exceed their goal of $1,500,000 (Raised So Far:$1,865,892) but they still need help to raise more and equally important to show those with HIV that we  do care .
