There is often too much pressure on us to travel across the country in packed planes to celebrate Thanksgiving with our biological family. The truth is that so many gay people would much rather be with our chosen family (or as Armistead Maupin terms it ‘our logical family‘). It’s even more galling when your parents expect you to slip back into the closet so as not to upset some uptight elderly aunt. Or worse still, the neighbors.
Over the years more and more LGBTQ+ parties have popped up to give us real alternative ways to actually celebrate the Holiday with those we love unconditionally. Not only that, many encourage us to get down and dirty.
