Now he has released a 26 second clip of It’s A Sin a five part drama that kicks off in 1981 when five 18-year-old gay men, Ritchie, Roscoe and Colin, begin a new life in London. This is in the onset of the AIDS crisis and is loosely based on Davies’s own experiences. It follows their trials and tribulations over the next decade and particularly the impact of HIV/AIDS.
The all-star cast include Olly Alexander, Keeley Hawes, Stephen Fry, Neil Patrick Harris, Tracy Ann Oberman, Shaun Dooley, Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells, Nathaniel Curtis and Lydia West.
In the teaser clip Alexander’s character Ritchie plays the song “It’s a Sin” by the Pet Shop Boys on a jukebox in a bar, before he catches sight of a handsome barman.
It is expected to be broadcast on UK’s Channel 4 in 2021, but panic not, Davies’s work always ends up being screened across the globe somehow ….. just watch this space
Speaking about the series, Davies said: “I lived through those times, and it’s taken me decades to build up to this. And as time marches on, there’s a danger the story will be forgotten. So it’s an honour to write this for the ones we lost, and the ones who survived.”
