San Francisco’s Smuin Ballet’s fiercely festive 2022 edition of The Christmas Ballet showcases Smuin’s exquisite signature style in a dazzling program of ballet, contemporary, character, Broadway jazz, and tap in two acts. Every performance is brimming with a sublime classical ballet set to carols and showstopping contemporary works danced to pop music favorites. With choreography by Michael Smuin and inventive premieres by up-and-coming dancemakers, Smuin unwraps surprises and new treats each year.
EXTRA SPECIAL is the one-night-only performance this Tuesday, December 20th where they have created special programming and casting that celebrates our vibrant LGBTQ+ community. Every ticket purchased provides a donation to Project Open Hand, founded in 1985 to feed people with HIV/AIDS. Project Open Hand serves life-saving, medically tailored nutrition to community members experiencing critical health conditions including HIV/AIDS, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease in San Francisco and Alameda counties.
