We always love to share good news from our community, and this particular nugget warms our hearts. One of London’s best fringe theatres Seven Dials Playhouse and Manchester’s theater company Hive North have just announced a new partnership with award-winning NHS sexual health service, 56 Dean Street. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as the theatre’s next production Jock Night tells the story of Ben a forty-something gay man searching for love in a world. It’s a raw, hilarious and provocative comedy that takes you through a year of wild nights in Manchester’s Gay Village, exploring modern gay relationships in a world fuelled by sex, drugs, and jockstraps.
56 Dean Street is an expert sexual health clinic in London that focuses on the needs of the LGBTQI+ community and is determined to end HIV transmission in gay men. Over the last 10 years, they’ve continually reinvented themselves to drive rates down. Diagnoses at the clinic have fallen by over 80% from their peak in 2015.
This new project/collaboration will use the play’s very explicit themes to benefit its audience and the wider community.
So on Wednesday 11th October from 12pm- 2:30pm, the team from 56 Dean Street will be on-site at Seven Dials Playhouse. Open to everyone – not only those who hold a ticket to Jock Night – the free service will include rapid HIV testing, routine sexual health screenings, vaccinations as well as information on PrEP.
