Sometimes I regret being too pragmatic too often as if I could have some faith in spirituality and be able to look into the future, then I would have known to steer clear of this rather annoying film. On a rather shabby set in Florida someone had the idea of planning a series of seances with Sarah Spiritual (sic!) and an odd assortment of both Drag Queens and Scream Queens.
Ms Spiritual insisted on sharing that she is a spiritual advisor and coach, energy healer, medium and artisan for personal transformational enlightenment, but here she just came over as a rather melodramatic soap opera actress. I’ll admit it is hard to keep a straight face when you are feeding the audience with ‘Is there someone here who knows someone whose name begins with an R and who has just passed over.” But Ms Spiritual’s talent is developing what seems to be a wild guess into a a vague life story which is always aided and abetted by a willing Queen anxious to hear from the ‘other side’.
At least what Ms Spiritual was trying to do was be entertaining …… and if your life was put on hold in the 1980s you may have enjoyed her act …… but on a more serious note is the worry that anyone at all makes major life-changing moves based on Ms Spiritual’s revelations. (In an aside she casually mentioned ahe had won the lottery 500 times., but then failed to enlarge on that)
Having been widowed myself there is nothing more I would love than to be able to communicate with my late husband other than silently in my own mind. BUT I am so convinced this is not the way .
Naturally if you disagree then I should tell you that the World Premiere of this film is August 18 at Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale.
But you have been warned …….
