News today from the Venice Film Festival is that a new doc from queer Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino called Salvatore: Shoemaker of Dreams has been brought by Sony Pictures Classic.
It’s the colorful tale of how Ferragamo an impoverished cobbler from Naples left his home in Italy to go to Hollywood to seek fame and fortune in the silent movie era. Even though he went back home in 1927 to established his famous brand but he still designed the rainbow platform shoes above Judy Garland in 1938. Plus it is ‘alleged’ that he created her Red Slippers in the Wizard of Oz.
The prolific Guadagnino (Oscar Nominated for Call Me By Your Name) also has a new HBO mini Series We Are Who We Are that is being released in the US on Sept 14th,
