Geoffrey McCormack was a childhood friend of David Bowie when they grew up together in the London suburb of Bromley. When Bowie asked to join his band as a back-up singer in the 1970’s he jumped at the chance and ended up accompanying his on some of his world tours.
Bowie had a fear of flying so after touring Japan they actually took the Trans Siberian Railway home. Everywhere McCormack (he adopted the stage name Warren Peace) went he took his camera. Always maintaining that he was not a professional photographer and just took ‘holidays snaps, McCormack nevertheless captured these remarkable intimate images of one of rock’s greatest ever performers and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century
As new Exhibition of some of these images Rock ‘n’ Roll with Me Bowie/MacCormack 1973-76 opens on October 17 to June 6 at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery in the UK.
