Rick Owens: An outrageous Night at the Pompidou

During FIAC  (Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain)  the major contemporary art fair in Paris., the Pompidou Center always holds an extravagant event of its own.

This year on the 5th floor of the Musée National d’Art Moderne the avant-garde American designer Rick Owens mounted  You x Art x Centre Pompidou a special evening  with some well-known performance artists voguing slowly on pieces of Rick Owen furniture in front of some of the Gallery’s art masterpieces.

Owens is known for his glamour-meets-grunge  (or glunge) and all performers, including the wonderful David Hoyle (a personal  favorite of Queerguru) were dressed in pieces from Owens Summer 2020 Collection.  Estonian rapper Tommy Cash; self-professed “drag terrorist” Christeene; performance artist Kembra Pfahler; ballroom stars Mother Rheeda and Precious Ebony, and DJs LSDXOXO, Pandora’s Jukebox, Dustin Muchuvitz and MikeQ.

The final act of the night was by Lalamichmich, aka Owen’s  wife Michèle Lamy, who chose to simply laugh into the microphone.  Then there was an After Party clubbing to the wee hours in a gallery surrounded by Francis Bacons.
