Richard Kranzin is a Berlin-born and bred queer filmmaker and photographer who has produced his second stunning book titled NUDES. 31-year-old Kranzin started doing photography in his teenage years. After school, he worked as a freelance model and photographer, before he started focussing on film and photography professionally
He is a sensitive observer who lets himself be guided by natural – and sometimes overpowering – sunlight and at the same time does not fear the darkest shadows.
Kranzin told QUEERGURU My art has to do with the fragility of the masculine. The young men in this digital generation are represented as purely as possible. Analog black and white photography gives them new materiality and forms a contrast to the over-stuffed digital picture world we live in. My models are cut off from their commercialized self-representations on social media, from their digital identities. I aim to break open the façade. My pictures invite you to dream of masculinity without sin, honest and authentically sensuous.
