Yesterday was a sad summer day in France as we lost our favorite English icon. Jane sang softly to us for the last time “Je t’aime” and we are all singing back to her “Nous non plus” with tears in our eyes.
Thanks to her beauty, her freshness, her simple and relaxed manners, her childlike voice and her British accent, the wonderful Jane B. marked several generations of French teenagers as Serge Gainsbourg’s muse, an accomplished actress, and a political activist.
Some will go on about the most famous bag in the world named after her. Jane used to give most of her royalties to charities and for her name to be removed due to the terrible treatment suffered by crocodiles on Australian farms.
I’d rather remember Jane with the perfume she created together with Lyn Harris, L’air de rien, a very intimate fragrance reminiscent of Jane’s personnalité, soft, warm, and sensuous.
We loved you very much, dear Jane Birkin. Seeing you on stage was one of the most moving moments I ever experienced. You truly touched our hearts and tears keep rolling down my cheeks as I’m writing this.

Light, heart-warming and affectionate tribute. Very much like Jane herself.
A heartfelt tribute to a true icon. Bravo Cheri!
