Queerguru’s Allison Ananis picks new music from Toni Braxton, H.E.R., Harry Styles and newcomer Johnny Orlando

The incomparable Toni Braxton makes an epic comeback into the R&B music world with her newly released song “Gotta Move On,” which features guitar and a guest appearance from H.E.R. The video shares a glimpse into the world of a couple going through a difficult time which ultimately leads to the end of their relationship. “No hesitation, you keep me waiting. Saying you’re on your way.Oh, but I supported it, even ignored it. When you had me waiting all day. I just gotta move on.”

This is a classic Toni Braxton heart wrenching break up song; and you can almost feel the pain in her smooth, dark and rich sounds of her voice. You did it again, Toni – Just another sad love song rackin’ my brain, like crazy.

This week Harry Styles dropped his new music video “Golden” and the whole world under the age of 30 is going WILD over it.  The cinematography is gorgeous – portraying different clips of Styles gallivanting across a gorgeous Italian landscape – and in various eclectic outfits (sometimes shirtless – GASP). The lyrics of the song depict Styles thinking back to the beginning of a blissful (and also quite vulnerable) honeymoon stage of his relationship. “But I, I can feel it take a hold. I can feel you take control of who I am and all I’ve ever known. Loving you is the antidote. You’re so golden.” Young hearts run free -and apparently all over Italia, too.

Grammy Award-winner R&B songstress H.E.R just released her latest single titled “Damage” from her highly anticipated and upcoming full-length album on MBK Entertainment/RCA Records. The live performance video for the song was shot at the Roxie Theatre in Los Angeles, featuring H.E.R. walking inside the venue to join her band on stage. If you are into smooth and deliciously lustful R&B slow jams then look no further – this song is ecstasy.  A voice that blends with Alicia Keys and a hint of Heather Headley, H.E.R gets deep and soulful about love “Holding me tight, loving me right, giving me life all night, you could be telling me lies, making me cry, wasting my time the whole time, so just be careful what you take for granted,  because with me you could do damage.  Personally, I will be playing this song on repeat for the foreseeable future.

The 17 year-old Canadian singer Johnny Orlando woefully pines over his adolescent lost love in his new song “Adelaide” who might just be using another guy to get back at him. “Adelaide – Wish I didn’t I think about you everyday. And I know that you’re with him just to get to me – And it gets to me every time I hear him say Adelaide.” Keep an eye out for this fresh -faced rising star – he could be a Bieber in the making.
