Queerguru with Music to Give Thanks : Miley Cyrus w Dua Lipa, Tayla Parx, Pia Mia w twocolors, & Sister Sledge

Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa premiered their new provocative music video “Prisoner” last week and lezzbehonest – I am LIVING for this duo! The video starts with the pair driving what appears to be a grunge/rock band tour bus – but wait – it gets so much better. They begin to seductively dance whilst pouring blood-red cherry juice all over each other (who popped whose cherry?!) and ultimately land a righteous performance in a dive bar that ends with Lipa giving the audience the middle finger. I do not want to overshadow the absolute masterpiece sound that emanates from both Miley and Dua Lipa – but damn – this video is absolute FIRE.

Grammy award-nominated recording artist Tayla Parx dropped “Fixerupper” earlier this month which is one of the tracks on her forthcoming album titled Coping Mechanisms. In a recent interview with Broadway World Music, Parx says that “Fixerupper” marks a moment of growth. “It came after I ended up meeting my next love. I recognized the need to get over some situations, be patient, and understand there are some bandages necessary to fix me up.” This 70s inspired video gives you all the feels – an evolution of heartache, growth, and ultimately hope.

Guam’s native pop princess Pia Mia recently joined forces with the German duo twocolors and produced a brilliant rendition of “Lovefool” originally by the Cardigans. Now I know what you are thinking – it is a tall order to successfully pull off an update to hit songs – but trust me – your fears will subside the moment you hear the first few seconds of the track. It is beautifully done -and while the chorus of the iconic original remains intact, Pia Mia manages to throw in a few new verses to the song. Check it out and see if you can catch the difference.

Thanksgiving may look and feel a little different this year, but a family’s bond near or far is certainly unbreakable. In my mind, family can be whatever you make of it – and friends are also the family that you choose. So come on, sis – turn this beat way up – pour yourself a cocktail – and dance for high hopes we have for the future.
