Queerguru is kind of sorry that Christmas comes only once a year as it is by far the campiest of all holidays that allows us to o/d on some outrageous bad taste and kitchiest sentimentality that we have been storing up all year.
We always kick in right after Thanksgiving playing our favorite music videos non-stop just to annoy the neighbors. Well, they start of by loving them, but by the 25th they are so over them and us.
Here’s why. This is our queer Christmas music playlist that reflect what we really mean when we wish everyone Happy Holidays.
10: The Weather Girls – Dear Santa (Bring Me a Man This Christmas). Who even knew The Girls had another song in their repertoire besides ‘It’s Raining Men‘. This one they recorded in 1983 and we believe that Santa did his best to help answer their prayers , BUT it is kind of tough for straight girls to get laid when they insist on only hanging out with gay men.
9: Alaska Thunderfuck – Everyday Is Christmas a runner up on Drag Race, this actor/comedian has gone to bigger and better things . New York magazine named Thunderfuck one of the top 100 Most Powerful Drag Queens in America in June 2019. We love all the sheer detail in her video
8: Baby Its Cold Outside – Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban + Betty Garratt and Red Skelton. This song has been recorded so many times over the years, but our own favorite version is the original from the 1949 movie ‘Neptune Rising’ with the queen of synchronised swimming Miss Esther Williams.
7: Sharon Needles – Jingle Bells Sharon, a self styled ‘stupid genius’. belts out her raucous take on this hallowed christmas song. Like her ex BF Alaska Thunderfuck she was also named as one of the top 100 Most Powerful Drag Queens in America in June 2019.
6: Merry Christmas from Noele Gordon We slipped this one in for our Brit readers (of a certain age) as Gordon was a Soap Opera queen for almost 20 years in the 1960’s- 1980’s when she was unceremoniously fired. She played the role of the owner of a suburban motel as if she was the Queen of England, so being fired changed her status from Gay Icon to Gay Martyr
5: Do they Know it’s Christmas ~ Band Aid 1984 Bob Geldorf and Midge Ure wrote and recorded this a fundraiser as a response to the Famine in Ethiopia. Every single major musical star at the time took part, and it became of the biggest selling singles of all time
4: The Twelve Pains of Christmas is from Twisted Christmas a hilarious Christmas parody album recorded by Bob Rivers and his Comedy Corp.
3. DARLENE LOVE ‘Christmas’ We are totally with David Letterman on this one, he never could have a single Christmas without Darlene Love singing this in his Show.
2) Judy Garland – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. We couldn’t spend Christmas without getting emotional at least once, and that’s why Miss Garland is near the very top of our list.
1: FASCINATING AIDA : Good Christmas Advice. There was never any doubt that this would be our number one choice this year, This comedy cabaret act consisting of three nice middle-aged British women do not hold back on how to behave this festive season which we agree with so wholeheartedly
