Queerguru is slaeways so happy to talk about our queer history whenever we can. Knowing that our past has shaped our present, we never want to forget those who came before us and made it all happen. It’s a commitment that is the very basis for an award-winning nominated docuseries from Canadian filmmaker Mark Kenneth Woods and his friends as they travelled to different pride celebrations around the globe to learn about LGBTQ+ history. They have embarked on a worldwide journey to discover how LGBTQ people have lived, loved, and persevered over time and how those stories can bridge the gap between our often-divided communities today.
We sadly have only just discovered Pride—The LGBTQ+ History Series , which is now in its sixth and final season, but never fear, all the previous episodes can be viewed online. In this last episode, Woods is joined by previous guest hosts/producers Christian Yves Jones and Michael Venus, each bringing a unique perspective to the exploration of our collective queer history. Christian travels to pride festivals in Porto, Portugal, Edinburgh, Scotland and Portland, Oregon, while Michael visits Winnipeg, Manitoba. Meanwhile, Mark joins Christian in Edinburgh and Portland in addition to Adelaide and Perth, Australia and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
From pre-colonial third genders to famous UK royalty, the series brings lesser-known, and often surprising, LGBTQ stories to light. While exploring where and how LGBTQ+ people have both struggled and strived in the past, this heartwarming series awakens a brand new sense of “pride” for all members of our community. https://pridetvseries.com/television-streaming/
