Check out the stunning trailer below of Daisy Asquiths‘ QUEERAMA: A Century of Gay Rights and Desires on Film which is a must-see for any movie buff who is into celebrating our LGBTQ history in the cinema. The BFI (British Film Institute) has just announced that the film will now be released on DVD on March 26th.
Asquith created her fascinating film with the help of the treasure trove that is the BFI National Archive, and the documentary travels through a century of gay experience, encompassing persecution and prosecution, injustice, love and desire, identity, secrets, forbidden encounters, sexual liberation, and pride.
Queerama guides us intimately through the relationships, desires, fears and expressions of gay men and women against the backdrop of a time of incredible change, and also weaves in the lyrics and music of John Grant, Goldfrapp, and Hercules and Love Affair.
Special features
- Daisy Asquith Q&A (2017, 8 mins): director Daisy Asquith in conversation with the BFI’s Simon McCallum

P.S. The only dampener on all this is that the DVD will be issued Region 1 and so unless you live in the UK, or have a multi-region player, then you’ll be out of luck. If that is the case then simply bombard the BFI until they relent and issue it as a region free DVD!
