Queer musician Fiorious wants us to know he is not Defeated

Bronx born queer musician FIORIOUS has turned his activism into a glorious dance anthem that is impossible to ignore.  I’m Not Defeated from his forthcoming album Revisionary  is his very personal powerful call-to-resistance with the lyrics drawing on his pain while he taps into the very real turmoil that exists in the world around us.

He told defected.com “There was definitely a lot of anger rooted in there [while making the record], directed both at myself and hateful external forces in the world. So in that moment of feeling very defeated, both personally and politically, I wrote a song to make me feel the exact opposite, to feel completely empowered.

What we particularly loved about this music video was that it includes clips of some many crucial LGBTQ trailblazers like Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, and Federico Garcia LorcaMarsha P Johnson, Silvia Rivera, Harvey Milk, and Bayard Rustin, and brilliant artists including Sylvester, Frankie Knuckles, and Keith Haring.  The combination of these images and Fiorious’ passionate lyrics is stunning and added to his infectious energy that seeps through, makes this (and him) a sheer joy to watch and listen.
