QUEER FRONTIERS : contemporary queer art exhibit online

Leading London Art Consultants ARTIQ’s 3rd Edition of QUEER FRONTIERS, a platform to showcase the outstanding talents of a diverse range of international LGBTQ+ artists, is going VIRTUAL this year.

Last year they set up shop in the legendary Soho nightclub Madame JoJo’s, and  the work of 26 LGBTQ+ artists and allies in a week long exhibition and curated programme of events in celebration of Pride week. It also raised a total of £27,000 for LGBTQ+ charities Albert Kennedy Trust and Switchboard.

They are back stronger than ever for 2020 with the theme of ‘Self-Expression’  and as usual all works are for sale. All funds raised through this exhibition will be split between the artists and Renaissance Foundation, who support young people living with significant challenges to reach their full potential, a mantra ever more important in this incredibly challenging year.

QUEER FRONTIERS is online until July 15th https://www.queerfrontiers.co.uk/shop

London-based Phillip Prokopiou was born to Greek immigrants in South Africa. The self-taught photographer established a practice in 2014 under the name Studio Prokopiou, co-founded with his partner in life and art, Greek native, Panos Poimenidis. Their work is an exploration of self-invention and identity, informed by art history, pop culture and classical mythology incorporating the artifice of camp. The images are the result of an ongoing dialogue between the duo and their subjects.

Jamie Luke Scoular is a London based artist whose photographic work is influenced by personal experiences with addiction, mental health and well-being.

Photographed in Los Angeles David and Jamal are two friends and professional dancers. I asked them to perform a series of movements that told the story of their support for one another and strength of their relationship.  Performance and specifically contemporary dance is a theme I often come back to within my work. My initial inspiration for the shoot was based on my interest of contemporary dance however after spending time with David and Jamal I was keen to look at their strong bond and explore that through the interpretation of movement.

Josephine Clouting graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts. Her experimental approach to painting stems from a desire to combine a naive curiosity in science and the natural world, with an interest in the history of abstract art.
