It was a good night for queer cinema at the prestigious London Film Critics Awards yesterday. Timothée Chalamet won the Best Actor Award for his starring role in CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, whilst openly gay writer/director FRANCIS LEE picked up Breakthrough Filmmaker Award for the stunning gay romance GOD’S OWN COUNTRY his feature film debut.
21-year-old Brit actor HARRIS DICKINSON won Young Performer of The Year for his role as Frankie in Eliza Hittman’s Beach Rats about a young Coney Island boy struggling with his sexuality.
