Queer Brunch @ Miami Beach’s O Cinema

The LGBT community may not have been the ones who started the whole concept of ‘brunch’ in the first place, but they unquestionably are the ones who have turned into a new art form.  Take for example the QUEER BRUNCH series at Miami Beach’s indie movie theater O Cinema which has been combining exquisite food with the very best new queer movies.  Oh, and did we mention bottomless mimosas too.

The next Queer Brunch in their calendar is on Sunday when they are screening Sebastián Lelio’s ‘A Fantastic Woman’ that may actually make movie history by being the first film with a transgender protagonist that will possibly win the Best Foreign Film Academy Award later this month.

It is the story of Marina (Daniela Vega), the beautiful, enigmatic transgender heroine who is plunged into a precarious situation after her boyfriend dies unexpectedly in her company.  Check out the trailer below which will definitely get you hooked.

The Movie starts at 12.30 pm after a fab  Brunch provided by Cafe Creme which starts at 11.30 am (did we mention the bottomless mimosas?)

Immediately after the screening, which has been sponsored by   Miami Foundation’s LGBT Fund, there will be a discussion led by Tori Beltran about the effects of machismo an transphobia throughout Latin-American and the Caribbean and how it manifests itself right here in Miami as well.

Tickets ($30) and further information at https://www.o-cinema.org/event/queer-brunch-a-fantastic-woman/
