Queer as Folk creator Russell T. Davies launches new drama “Its A Sin”

Brit writer Russell T Davies, the creator of the iconic LGBTQ series Queer as Folk is about to launch a brand new powerful AIDS Drama for Channel 4 in the UK and HBO Max in the US

“It’s a Sin”  will follow the lives of Ritchie Tozer (Olly  Alexander) a gay teenager who moves to London in 1981.  It is the very early years of the AIDS pandemic and he and his  friends  navigate life, love and loss  as the horrors of the crisis begin to unfold.

The first new trailer opens a character played by former EastEnders star Tracey-Ann Oberman poses the question, “Where do you see yourself in five years’ time? before the show’s trio of male leads Ritchie (Alexander), Roscoe (Omari Douglas) and Colin (Callum Scott-Howells) who respond with their hopes and dreams for the coming years of fear and homophobia.

Talking about the new series  Davies said of “It’s A Sin: “I lived through those times, and it’s taken me decades to build up to this. And as time marches on, there’s a danger the story will be forgotten. So it’s an honor to write this for the ones we lost, and the ones who survived.”

Davies promised that the series wouldn’t shy away from the realities faced by gay men during the AIDS crisis, “It’s enormously entertaining and funny but f**king hell it gets dark… They walk into a plague.”

It’s A Sin  which also stars Neil Patrick Harris and Stephen Fry is expected to premiere in early 2021 on Channel 4 in the UK and on HBO Max in the US.
