Queen diva Big Freedia is back and she means business. Literally. The fabulous rapper from New Orleans introduced all to her very infectious ‘bounce’ hip hop music and ‘twerking’ and is now expanding her activities. For Pride Month she is gearing up for the release of her highly-anticipated new album Central City. ……. her first LP in nine years.
Big Freedia told us “New music, new collaborations.I have a lot of great people on the album. New sounds, taking it back a little bit to the roots here in New Orleans, where I grew up. I’m also elevating the bounce sound to new heights and new ventures [by] going into new samples and stuff like that, so it’s going to be a great album.”
And at the same time this budding new business tycoon is about to show the world the empire she has/is creating in her new docuseries BIG FREEDIA MEANS BUSINESS. In it, she will show the world her eyewear line, her makeup line, her press on nails, and her record label. And if that is not enough we will get to see her opening the first Black-owned hotel in New Orleans.
In the docuseries, Freedia opens up on her grind and drive for success in her 20+ year career in the industry. “Not a day goes by that it doesn’t feel surreal. I’m finally getting to see the proof my labor for all of the hard work that I’ve put in for the last two decades. It feels very good to know that there’s people that look up to me and [there’s] people I can inspire to go out and be their true authentic selves. That’s what it’s about for me, just making the world a better place.”
