Provincetown’s first ever Washashore queer Music & Arts Festival is up next

According to the Urban Dictionary a ‘washashore’ is a newcomer to a coastal or island community, a non-native.  It’s not uncommon to hear some described ‘ he’s married a local BUT he’s still a washashore’ However this potentially xenophobic insult is turned on its heels here in PTown at the very tip of Cape Cod.   Over the years different ‘washashores’ have helped transformed the once sleepy Portuguese fishing hamlet into an artists colony and also one of the most welcoming queer communities in the country.

There is a welcome mat out for new generations washahores especially when they add to the richness and variety of the culture.  So much so the Town is about to hold its very first WASHASHORE MUSIC + ARTS FESTIVAL with some of the best new queer musicians and artists.  Held over three days Oct 8-10 in three venues in town, the event’s entirely queer lineup will feature  more than 26 national and local entertainers

Performers include national headliners like pop-star Vincint and gay country music icon Ty Herndon and a diverse lineup of DJs who will throw parties into the night. Additional performers include Boy Radio, LVDY, Karsten Sollors, Blew Velvet The Dragon Sisters, SDOT, Kate Yeager, Siena Liggins, Marielle Kraft, Bitch, Johnny I, Derek Monteiro Justin Dawson, Donnelly & Richardson, New Breed, Billy Hough, Mike Sullivan, Zoë Lewis, Qya Cristál, MikeMRF x Lisa Bello, Thirsty Burlington, and Chris Marchant.

“We are proud to have curated a festival of all queer acts, both national and local,” said Jonathan Hawkins of Live from Provincetown. The Washashore Festival is committed to uplifting and reflecting Provincetown’s unique soul with performers that embody free expression, individuality, beauty, acceptance, and joy. We want this festival to contribute to keeping Provincetown a queer and accessible destination.”
