TPAN was founded in 1987 as the Test Positive Aware Network during the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It was a place for HIV-positive people to share vital information and find peer-support, in a time when fear, misinformation, and rampant discrimination in the healthcare system contributed to countless lives lost. To address a painful void of care and support in Chicago, community leader Chris Clason turned to his peers – many of themselves living with HIV & AIDS – to build a foundation of care for others. That meaningful beginning has evolved into the small but mighty organization and national publication you see today.
TPAN provides one extra unique service which is so wonderful it more than deserves our support Its Paws N’ Effect program connects people living with HIV to rescue dogs in need of a forever home. They have found that since the schemes started they have seen a decrease in depression, anxiety, loneliness, and improved health among our program’s participants.
The power of a dog’s unconditional love can be
life changing
especially for people when they need it most.
TPAN plan to DOUBLE the number of people—and dogs!—enrolled in Paws N’ Effect next year. But adopting and caring for a dog can be expensive, that’s why they’re asking all of us to help fund this valuable program. By making a donation today you will help fund the adoption of amazing pets like Mika, and build everlasting friendships.
Your donation will go directly towards supporting these amazing loving pets:
- $25 provides for a 12-pound bag of dog food
- $50 affords a fluffy, comfortable dog bed
- $350 pays the adoption fee of one dog to find a lifelong home!
please make a program donation so they can help more HIV-positive people live healthier, happier lives.
