The Desert Rose Playhouse in Palm Springs currently has the World Premiere of PALM SPRINGS THE MUSICAL: Born to Sparkle. Eight years in the making, the show revolves around two passionate women who leave their successful lives in Hollywood to fulfill a deathbed promise to revive The Fabulous Follies that shuttered in 2014.
It’s a love story; a crisis of faith and redemption; and best of all a marvelous mustache-twirling villain with a corrupt sidekick, a ballsy Nurse Ratchet-type who, together, attempt to thwart the ladies’ remounting of the Follies, in an effort to keep their noses out of the shady retirement home they operate.
Directed by Robbie Wayne, the show has 20 original show-stopping tunes, book and lyrics written by Robbie Moss Manning and Alyce Haskell Berard, and music by composer and musical producer Jonathan Baer
With a colorful cast as diverse as Palm Springs itself, complete with a 7–foot-tall drag queen, this musical is playing until April 10th
