Every year The Oxford English Dictionary the bastion of the English language decides what new words are now acceptable usage and they add them to their vast tomes so we know how to talk about life as we know it today. Their experts chose 500 new words this time, and here are our favorite Top 10.
Cisgender: a word that applies to the vast majority of people, describing a person who is not transgender
Half-ass: to do something with little effort
Hard-arse: a tough, demanding, or uncompromising person.
Hot mess: a person or thing that is spectacularly unsuccessful or disordered.
Masshole: an obnoxious or irresponsible driver from Massachusetts
Photo-bomb: spoil a photograph by unexpectedly appearing in the camera’s field of view as the picture is taken.
Sexting : the sending of sexually explicit messages or images by cell phone
SCOTUS: The acronym for the Supreme Court of the United States
Stagette: The Canadian term for a bachelorette party.
Twerking: dancing to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.
