NY’s FILM FORUM presents SAPPH-O-RAMA a totally fab program of SAPPHIC CLASSICS AND DISCOVERIES.

Come February it’s time to make tracks to NY’S Film Forum (one of Queerguru’s very favorite movie theaters)  for a program of SAPPHIC CLASSICS AND DISCOVERIES.  For almost two weeks from Feb 2nd, they are programming some incredible queer films inc

MÄDCHEN IN UNIFORM | BORN IN FLAMES
DESERT HEARTS | THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE  I  CAGED | THE WATERMELON WOMAN | PARIAH. I MADAME X: AN ABSOLUTE RULER | SHAKEDOWN and much more

A broad look at the eccentric, enduring, and genre-encompassing history of the Lesbian image in cinema through the last century — from the silent era to the present day — featuring love-struck school girls, pistol-packin’ cons, merciless matrons, bike-riding dykes, drug-addled nuns, roller-skating swashbucklers, and daring utopia-seekers. With films by Dorothy Arzner, Chantal Akerman, Ulrike Ottinger, Cheryl Dunye, Lizzie Borden, Yvonne Rainer, Nouchka van Brakel, Céline Sciamma, John Waters, Pedro Almodóvar, and many others.
