“The Drive” by Skyler Cocco is a smooth yet upbeat love song that speaks to all the lost souls that have had a lover’s quarrel and need some space to reflect. “I lose my mind without you and I.” “I messed up and couldn’t keep my mouth shut – playing with your love.” These are lyrics that everyone in a relationship can relate to. The song is catchy and fun – a song that you play on a long drive no matter your mood.
“If You got a Problem” by Joy Oladokun (or if you close your eyes Tracy Chapman) is a folky love song with tenors of rasp and hope for a brighter day. “If you got a problem I got a problem too. If you’re standing at the bottom -I’ll reach out for you.” Easy listening music for your first cup of coffee on a Sunday morning.
“Night Call” by Lia Lia is a song, as she explains it, “about feeling lonely and disconnected from the world, waiting for someone to come and rescue me from my boredom.” The track features a mix of modern day pop and Gwen Stefani punk with a haunting melody which makes it very interesting to listen to and draws you completely in to the song.
“Lifetime” the debut single by Romy Madley-Croft (of The xx’s) is a song that makes you want to go to the gay club and dance with sweaty bodies packed together all night on the dancefloor. Something that every queer person is craving to do once again. A taste of freedom and euphoria that you cannot get anywhere else.
