New Queer Music : ERASURE, KYLE MOTSINGER, THE FLAMING LIPS, DUA LIPA and THE GO-GO’S

 

ERASURE (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke)  have shared the new video for their latest single, “Nerves of Steel.” Featuring over 20 LGBTQIA+ stars – including several best known for their appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

One of the performers Detox explains, “Erasure has been an integral part of my queer soundtrack from early on and it was a tremendous honor to be included in their new work!” 

Erasure’s eighteenth studio album, The Neon, is out August 21 on Mute. It will be released digitally and on standard and deluxe limited editions of vinyl, CD and cassette.

 

KYLE MOTSINGER has  released his bedroom disco (since we can’t go to a club) music video from his new single about body positivity! The song is called “No Shame” and he had a diverse group of friends, featuring Broadway and TV’s Melody Betts on additional vocals, to help bring the song to life.

Motsinger tOld Queerguru he  wanted to show racial and body diversity and demonstrate that no one should be ashamed of showing off their beautiful bodies! “No Shame” is the fourth Single off his  upcoming album, “Any Way I Want it To.” 

 

The Flaming Lips – “My Religion Is You” from their new album American Head which is  being released on  9/11.  The album contains “Flowers Of Neptune 6,” their recent single with Kacey Musgraves on backing vocals. Musgraves appears on another track called “God And The Policeman,” which is hopefully a proper duet. The tracklist includes many evocative drug-related titles such as “You N Me Sellin’ Weed,” “At The Movies On Quaaludes,” “When We Die When We’re High,” and “Mother I’ve Taken LSD.” 

 

Two-time Grammy Award winner Brit singer/songwriter DUA LIPA has released a new video of Levitating featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott and directed by Will Hooper.  This one is called The Blessed Madonna Remix.

 

The Go-Go’s are releasing their first new song in nearly 20 years. The iconic California new wave band are the subject of a new documentary directed by Alison Ellwood, watch trailer below. While they were shooting the documentary they wrote this new song via email exchanges between band members and recorded it in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
