Nancy Pelosi promises us an Equality Act

Getting good news from Speaker Nancy Pelosi has become almost a daily ritual now, and in this political climate that the current Administration have debased beyond what we ever could have ever imagined, she has become our Hero.

Yesterday the Speaker promised that an Equality Act, which would ban anti-LGBTQ discrimination nationwide in employment, housing, public accommodations, and other areas, will be introduced in Congress next week.

While the exact wording of the Equality Act has not yet been released it is thought to seek  to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, jury service, education, federal programs, and credit. It would do so by amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Fair Housing Act. It would also ban sex discrimination in public accommodations and update the definition of public accommodations to include retailers, banks, transportation, and health care services, and assure that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act could not be used to condone anti-LGBTQ discrimination.

We don’t know exactly  when the Equality Act would come up for a vote in the House of Representatives, but under her leadership we now it will pass.  Speaker Pelosi was also optimistic about the Bill’s chances of getting through the Senate too.

We hope all those people who were talking about the Speaker was well past her sell-by date after the Midterm Elections are now eating their words.  She is the only person man or woman, that will always put the lying Trump  well and truly in his place.
