My Sister is So Gay (and my mother is Loni Anderson)

As a generalization blonde bombshells/bimbos always  seem to attract a very loyal following amongst gay men.  Take Loni Anderson for example.  She  had aspirations to be a latter-day Jayne Mansfield (she even played her in a made-for-TV movie, but her acting career never really took off beyond playing character roles..  She made much more of an impression on the public with her (3rd) marriage to Burt Reynolds, but that didn;t stop us awarding her gay icon status.

With her very  campy appearance and her larger-than-life style of dramatics, Ms Anderson is a perfect addition to a gay melodrama or too..  And that’s exactly what actors  Terry Ray and Wendy Michaels thought when they were casting the web series they had written and were going to star in as dysfunctional siblings

The result is My Sister is So Gay.  It’s the tale of Seth a middle aged gay man living in LA , who for some as yet undisclosed reason has an extremely hot young boyfriend who appears to dote on him.  Their peace is disturbed when Seth’s homophobic estranged sister he hasn’t seen for 20 years suddenly arrives on his doorstep unannounced. demanding to stay as she had left her husband. She had caught him red-handed being unfaithful, but the worst part is that he slept with Katherine her best friend that she evidently had being carrying a secret crush on for years and years.

Enter Ms Anderson as Frances the sibling’s mother who insists on still being called Mumsie, toting a very large bottle of vodka and her own set of martini glasses.  She is determined to sort her children’s lives out as long as they keep her topped up with drink.

Shakespeare it isn’t, but this very silly campy drama has more than its fair share of laughs, and even more of Ms Anderson,  Here’s Series 1.
