Most of us have sat out the Lockdown living in sweats and/or very questionable pajamas. They have helped us drop any pretense of ‘making an effort’ beyond overeating and putting on those extra Covid pounds.
We carefully said ‘most’ because we know of one person in particular who refused to lower her standards. The glamourous Miss Hope Springs is a very sophisticated English lady who has been a celebrated chanteuse in polite society (and not so polite) for years. We have just learned that she has spent the past few months sitting upright at her grand pianoforte (in her equally grand home) bedecked head to toe in her finery.
Actually we have yet to see Miss Hope Springs when she is not in a shimmering sequin gown which is frankly never going to happen. During Lockdown it helped set the right ambiance for her practice the witty repertoire especially written for her by the talented Ty Jeffries. We knew that once the PM said people could finally leave their homes Miss Hope would be one of the first to start performing again.
In fact, her return back to Crazy Coqs Cabaret Room literally sold out in a matter of hours. BUT Miss Hope had her Secretary call us to say that she has been booked to play at the Wigmore Hall, which is an elegant Victorian concert venue. So very Miss Hope Springs. Even better, her performance will be filmed and later streamed online for all of us who will be unable to put London on their itinerary this summer.
Then Miss Hope will be having a driver head for Britain’s South Coast where she will have a six-show stint at Brighton Festival Fringe with her new all-original bitter-sweet musical comedy cabaret show ‘I’ve Been Around’ It’s to celebrate PRIDE but we will also be celebrating that Miss Hope Springs is back .
