The last time we met ex-Farm Boy turned screenwriter/director MARK CHRISTOPHER he had just successfully launched a Directors Cut of STUDIO 54 his documentary. He was feeling very joyful as this is something that so many filmmakers dream about being able to achieve. When we parted he was off to start a new life out West developing scripts for Miramax and also being a Professor at Chapman University.
We may have temporarily lost touch but he is the sort of person that will always appear on one’s radar again regardless of any time lapse. And this week it happened. He has turned his attention from cinema to stage and has written and directed a new musical Mid-Century Moderns which has opened this week in Palm Springs with some very flattering rave reviews
Its the story of how the fabulous hits of ’66 come to life in this delightful tale of a plucky Wisconsin widow who transforms from frump to fabulous when she finds herself at the center of modernity in Palm Springs. Featuring the music of Tom Jones, Petula Clark, Lesley Gore, Frank & Nancy Sinatra, The Association, The Monkees and many more!
“Its a Top-Notch Musical in Every Way” declares Coachella Valley Independent whilst Broadway World rounds up its review wth Perhaps the biggest round of applause should be saved for Mark Christopher,”
