After resting the naked project in 2022, meat creator and London-based photographer, Adrian Lourie, is back with his iconic calendar and bumper issue of the meat pin-up zine for 2024, featuring 12 diverse and extraordinary men in all their glory.
Adrian has been self-publishing meat zine for 13 years and has racked up a whopping 46 issues and 6 naked calendars. Not to mention the meat ICONS project, which is now in its second year of monthly zines featuring one incredible man per issue. Phwoarr! That’s a lot of meat!
The title is of course; ironic and the whole project has been heavily influenced by vintage physique pictorial magazines, but with the very modern twist, defying the stereotypes of what it takes to be a pin-up in the modern age. A cool, cult brand both at home and abroad, meat is positively an empire these days and has spawned one of London’s longest-running queer parties; delighting the coolest punters for over a decade, and is currently in residence at the legendary Dalston Superstore. Not forgetting a covetable range of meaty merch, including t-shirts, jocks, and accessories.
During the pandemic, Adrian marked ten years of the project by curating a substantial coffee-table tome featuring many of the 600+ men he has photographed. This year Lourie has published a second book, The Hotel Diaries, featuring some of his hotel encounters through meat over the years.
The new calendar and accompanying magazine are a true celebration of beautiful, but relatable, men; the kind of lad you might be lucky enough to find living next door.
