McQueen : the highly anticipated documentary

Here’s the first look at Ian Bonhôte’s highly anticipated documentary about the life of Alexander McQueen. This profile traces the late legend’s life from his East End upbringing to Saville Row before landing at the head of his own illustrious fashion house.

It’s hard to believe that is has been eight years since the designer’s untimely death in 2010, but McQueen’s elaborate, twisted catwalk productions are still seared into the memories of many fans.   He was an unmistakable genius and a giant of a man whose enormous influence in fashion is still very much felt today.

“No one discovered Alexander McQueen,” a voice says in the first teaser for Bonhôte’s documentary. “McQueen discovered himself”  which is a nod to everyone who has claimed that role for themselves.

McQueen will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival and then play other Festivals in the US before its theatrical screening in the summer.  Also still in the works is a biopic from filmmaker Andrew Haigh set during the lead-up to the designer’s mind-blowing spring/summer 10 retrospective show.  No word yet on when we can expect to see that.
