Andre Jordan one of the hilarious queens in The Queens Project web series sent us this video as he knew we would love it. And he was right. We haven’t stopped playing it all morning
Last week New York drag queen, political activist and star of another hit drag web series Shades: Queens Of New York, Marti Gould Cummings was all over the headlines when a video of her performing “Baby Shark” for a toddler at drag brunch went viral. Now Marti, who we are surprised was even allowed near children in the first place, has put her floaties on and jumped back into shark-infested water with her very own music video for the earworm children’s tune. Marti enlisted some local New York queens like 11 year old Desmond is Amazing, Lemon, Jan Sport and Andre Jordan, and filmed a video at the Seaglass Carousel in Battery Park in Lower Manhattan.
This wonderfully joyous and campy video also has a very good message attached to it. Marti explained to Queerguru ” The team behind Shade: Queens of NYC and I decided to make a music video for kids with the song and use the video as a way for the grown ups watching to find ways to help LGBTQ youth, so we put in links to the Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBTQ Youth and the Hetrick Martin Institute, home of the Harvey Milk High School,”
“The Seaglass Carousel was so gracious to donate their venue to film and I hope people love the video and take the time to share joy and love and help out these two incredible organizations fighting for our young people.”
